"God Makes the Little Baby"
by Vivian Au, age 6
crayon drawing

Those who walked in the dark have seen a bright light.
And it shines upon everyone who lives in the land
of darkest shadows.
Isaiah 9:2 CEV

An original crayon composition by Vivian Au, age 6

The Artist Speaks Out
She was asked, "Tell me about this picture."

This is about Jesus when he got born.  God made this baby to die on the cross to wash away our sins.  I draw it myself, and I try to make just the right thing.  Jesus loves me.  I wish I could hug him because I love him very much.  He's Jesus Christ.

"What do you want to tell people all over the world?"

I want them to know about Jesus.  Jesus is the strongest and I love him a lot.  Also I love God: he's my heavenly father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.  It is like a clover, it's one and has three [leaves] on it.  I love God making me as his own treasure, and for making my own family.  I love to listen to God doing the right things.  And when God destroys the earth, heaven will be my new home.  Also, I love my family so much and give them cuddles.

When told her drawing would be published for millions to see, she asked, incredulously,

How are you going to send this all around the world?  How are you going to do it?  Are you going to send it to other people's computers?

About the Artist

Vivian Au is the daughter of IMM founder and president Jim Au.  She was 6 years old when she drew this picture of her own accord.  She is homeschooled with her sisters.  She loves collecting and trading rocks, shells, Beanie Babies and Hot Wheels, and will play hide-and-seek anywhere.  During the summer of 2000, she learned to swim and ride a bicycle.  Of all her hobbies, she best loves to draw, paint and do anything that is art.
