"Tiny Life", by Sarah Shipman

I read recently that fifty percent of teenage mothers abort their babies, forty-nine percent mother their babies, and one percent choose adoption.

The full impact of these statistics hit me when I realized "teenage mothers" are my age! How would I react if faced with such a situation? In my case, the Lord would be my "refuge and fortress, my God in whom I trust," "my light and my salvation," and "an ever-present help in time of need," but what about the hundreds of girls who do not know Christ? Together we can do something for them, and I beseech you to unite with me in the battle for these young women’s souls—and for their babies’ lives.

Prayer is our most effective weapon. However, education is also a helpful tool. I hope and pray my poem "Tiny Life" will appeal to the aborters in ways we cannot see.

I sincerely desire to bring upon these mothers who have killed their babies the full impact of what they’ve done. The Bible says that children are a blessing from the Lord, and I as the oldest of eight can testify to that. I pray for the mothers that make the choice to abort their babies. Whatever else happens, I hope I may reach into the hearts of those who are hurting and bring them into a vital awareness of their urgent need for Christ. Help me help them to change their minds. I hope I have placed in your heart the same wish that is in mine to save the innocent, helpless babies that are being slaughtered every day. Lord, reveal to us our need!

This is my plea: that we forgive those who have done this and at the same time, awaken to what is being done in America. We must save our children!

Tiny Life
By Sarah Shipman, age 14

Tiny life, oh so helpless,
God’s sweet child, not yet born.
Mom, how could you be so cruel
To not let my baby live till morn?

Life is wonderful! I’m so glad
That my mother gave me birth.
A little one, yes, although taxing,
Repays his mother all he’s worth.

Now I speak for those who can’t
Christ has won the war I fight,
But th’aborted child He loves
Will never see earth’s light.

I cry out for precious lives,
Give them love and care!
If you can’t, then give them up
To One who’ll always be there.

Whate’er may come, all of their lives
Jesus will love them, I know.
You could be killing a servant of God;
How could you let them go!

Mothers, it’s our divine privilege
To bring tiny life into the world
Nurture, care for, love it so
But kill it ere its leaves are uncurl’d?

No! Let your baby live
Give the child what it deserves
Hope and a future, the right to life
For God the innocent preserves

If you’ve done wrong, don’t hesitate
God forgives us, yes it’s true
So go to Him, make your heart right
And let us now begin anew

Men and women, children and teens
All of you have a life to give
Join the fight against abortion’s evils
Let a precious infant live.
