From
Jim Au, IMM President
Recently, the Lord provided us a significant key
for refining and carrying out our ministry.
This one is major, one that will flavor
everything IMM does and produces henceforth.By
recommendation of the IMM Board of Directors, our
focus narrows to youth. It seems altogether
appropriate for us to concentrate our message on
the most visually oriented members of our diverse
society. By youth, I mean kids from about
the ages of 8 to 18.
Ron Rohman, a leading Christian
voice in our city who ministers to street kids,
has challenged: We must reach the
youth and the children! IMM hears
that call and answers. Now is the time for
us to rally to this cause and engage the youth in
our nation that many Christian workers have
concurred as being ripe for harvest. (One
such person is Gary Peterson of Wycliffe Bible
Translators, who was a co-founder of IMM).
Our primary concern will be the youth who are
least touched by the Churchs current
efforts to reach them with the Gospel.
Flashback1983: The
youth director of my church in Southern
California invited me to a small meeting. I
had no idea what this was to be about, but by the
time I left the meeting, I was in charge of our
entire Junior High ministry. The next two
years proved to be very challenging for me, but
extremely rewarding as well.
This past summer,
God sovereignly brought us into contact with a
man from Oklahoma, Herb Albertson, and his family.
He provided valuable consultation and some
marvelously creative ideas for this endeavor.
I feel eager to get back into youth outreach.
The time seems ripe for me and for IMM to take on
this challenge anew. We greatly appreciate
your prayers.
